Verdict

Finally on Charlie from MandB and as you can guess it's not good. Yep, it's an R. A nice R and an offer to work with an editor and to keep submitting. Hmmm, I'll have to have a think about that.
Writing for MandB has been my ambition since I was thirteen. I love Jessica Hart, Liz Fielding, Kate Hardy, Michelle Styles, Fiona Lowe, Julie Cohen, Kate Walker, Robyn Donald, Helen Bianchin and Betty Neels books and many others too numerous to mention. The editors I've worked with there are lovely people and I have great deal of admiration for Karin Stoeker but...
You knew there was a but. I don't know if it's time to re-evaluate my dream. I've been fortunate in finding wonderful homes for my stories with Little Black dress, Samhain, Moonlit Romance and The People's Friend. I know my stories are richly peopled and my plots are - well - different so it was always going to be a stretch to fit comfortably into readers expectations of a line.
I think I may just have to carry on building a new dream and simply enjoy reading MandB instead of writing them. I need to think.

Oh Nell! I am sooo sorry to hear that! Especially after waiting all this time. Hugs. And take some time to think about things, you have a great talent (as the Romance Prize, agent and all those publishers know!)

*huge hugs* I'm so sorry to hear about the R. Had my fingers crossed for so long. Take some time to think what's best for you. :o) *hugs*

Coming over from ehar to give you more hugs. Though it sounds like you have other aspirations now. Dee was just talking about this on the Sub Care thread. About how you want one thing when you first starting out and how the road you actually take is so much better.

Best of luck.

Nell, I'm soo sorry about the pass. But for what it's worth I think you have the right attitude - sometimes we do need to re-evaluate our dreams. You're a fabulous writer and I can't wait to read your very first LBD. ((((Hugs)))

Nell, I'm reminded of Bridget Jones here - I think you know that so many people love you 'just as you are.' ;) And maybe someone is guiding you in a different but equally fulfilling direction?

I do believe that everything happens for a reason and I think that for you the R came at a significant time in your writing career. You know what my thoughts are about it all -- I think Mel says it best in her comment above.

I know how much it can hurt even when it's a wonderful R (well done on that wonderful R by the way).
I'm not afraid to say I'm sitting with tears in my eyes reading that post. Your attitude sparkles.
In conclusion I can only add that some dreams change - and sometimes it's the journey that alters our perspective and us along the way.

Nell, so sorry to hear the news. Biddy said it all for me, so I'm sending you a hug. (Belated as I'm on deadline so haven't been reading blogs for ages - but still heartfelt!)
