Blog Party 4

Hi, I don't think we've met, my name is Jack and I'm a friend of Clodagh's. Well, I'd like to think I was her friend, and if I'm honest I'd like to be more than friends but Clo can be a bit prickly that way. Do you know how long it took to get a date with that girl? Then it was a disaster - something about steak and she didn't pay, followed by her crazy sister assaulting a journalist. At least life is never dull with Clo. She's busy today so Nell asked me to come and host the party.
First up a winner for the signed cover flat and surprise goodies for the best animal story - LAURA for her story about Pikachu and the McDonalds. So Laura, you need to get your snail mail addy to Nell.

New contest for a signed copy of Animal Instincts - Nell says it hits the bookstores today! To win a copy Nell wants to know cat or dog? Most people seem to have a slight preference for one or the other - tell her your vote and why and the best answer will win. She'll draw the prize on Saturday.
Coming on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are more prizes - remember every comment this week will go in the hat for door prizes - tons of excerpts and stories from your favourite Little Black dress authors

I vote for cat. Only reason is that I am petrified of dogs.

Will be looking for your book at the weekend in case I don't win.

Hmmm - dog or cat? I'll have to say dog - 'cos my two would be disgusted if I thought furball mewling critters were better than them. They're full of personality, and we're into mutual adoration.

I like cats, too - I especially love the way they stretch so wonderfully. I'd love to be able to stretch my spine like that. (The dogs' upside-down, paws in the air, energetic wriggles in their baskets isn't quite so graceful...)

Unfortunately, I can't have a cat where I am because a) the dogs would probably think it was dinner, and if they didn't then b) the cat would probably think the native birds around here were dinner.

Hi Julie, I'm wary of Alsations - I was bitten by one when I was small and I saw an incident when I worked in casualty many years ago that left me feeling a bit nervous of them.

Bron, great to see you here! I hate seeing the cats stalk the birds. We have a big bird feeding station - care of Mr Nell.

Our cat is an indoor cat because Mr. L is agin outdoor kitties stalking birdies.

As for being a cat or dog person... It's a toss up. I like them both equally well. I adore Pikachu, lubs me kitty muchly. So in response to cat or dog, I'm gonna say "beta fish." My middle son has a beta fish that moved across the US with us. This fish survived in an egg drop soup container, having his water spilt twice... Mr. L had to give the fish mouth to mouth (well, more like Mr. L blew on the fish and fish twitched and swam in a circle).

And SQUEEEEEEE on winning a signed cover flat. Think my neighbors will notice if I go sit by the communal mail boxes and wait for my prize to arrive? GGG. Thanks, Nell!

XO

It's pretty obvious to anyone who knows me that my preference is for cats.

So graceful (except for when they aren't), so agile (except for when they fall down), so unwilling to admit they've made a boo-boo (just like me)...

Yeah, I love my pussycat. Adore her, actually.

Now, if I could just pry her teeth out of my leg...

Ciao!

Dawgs!! I luvs me sum dawgs! The bigger, the better. I love their enthusiasm, their adoration, their grins.

Cats are nice, but they don't need me like my doggy does.

Hi Laura, well I'm a fish person as you know as I often mention my fish here.

Nell Dixon said...

Kimberly, your cat sounds like a real character!

Hi Sela! So good to see you here, I've seen pics of your dog and he's gorgeous.
I think the vote is a pretty even split so far.

We have a little dog at the mo who is adorable, but really I'm a cat person. I still miss the gorgeous kitties dh and I got the month we were married. They were sisters, long haired, soooo pretty and affectionate and used to play together which entertained me endlessly!!

Dogs. I love dogs. The slobbierer the better. I will confess to watching Crufts just for the bloodhounds. Growing up, we used to have a basset that left strings of drool everywhere. Now *that* is an animal.

Dogs. Because they'll bounce around and celebrate with you on the good days, and cuddle up with you on the bad. If I were an animal, I'd be an exuberant-but-lazy springer spaniel - just like mine!

Though I guess a cat wouldn't collect one shoe from each person in the house and hide them so they can't go out without him. Or carry a shoe around all day and leave it under the trees at the bottom of the garden (where you can't see it... until you discover it's missing, the next morning, and it rained overnight). Then again, a cat wouldn't wait under the letterbox, catch the post and bring it to you...

Dogs :o)

Hi Christina, it's so hard to choose when you have both, isn't it?

Nell Dixon said...

Hi Julie and Kate, two more dog votes. The debate is still neck and neck.

Pat Posner said...

Such a hard choice! Our old cat was 23 when she died and she was quite a character.
But I hate being dogless - I miss the licks the games and unconditional love. OK, you get that with cats, too, but I don't mind not having a cat so...
Yes, I vote for dog.

As someone who owns two dogs and is owned by three cats, I have to vote for dogs. I just love their eagerness to please and their slobbery kisses.

As I often say, 'Call a dog and it will come to you. Call a cat and it will take a message and maybe get back to you...'

Nell Dixon said...

Hugs Pat, I'm sure more animals will enter your life when the time is right.

Nell Dixon said...

Hi Shirley, it is so hard to choose. I think the dogs seem to be winning at the moment though.

Nell, I have to vote for cat... my poor NicNak is currently languishing in a boarding cattery - sorry, cat holiday home - while I am in Australia. And he's nursing a poor sore paw after being beaten up (again) by one of the neighbourhood cats. So - definitely a cat vote here.

Hi Janet, love the pics of Australia on your blog - another cat vote!
