Nearly there!

Just 5 days to go now until Murder at the Beauty Pageant is out! Although I see the audiobook version is already there, which is exciting! Karen has done a fabulous job of the narration. I'm so excited for you all to read Murder at the Beauty Pageant. In June 1935 the finals of Miss Europe were held in Torquay. The contest was won by Miss Spain. Beauty contests were a big thing back then and often gave young women the opportunity to improve their lives and circumstances, injecting some glamour into the every day. Now of course they have fallen out of fashion although the USA still seems to hold more of these kinds of events. The title of the next book is confirmed now as Murder at the Village Fair with a cover reveal coming very soon. This book is set in Yorkshire and includes a traditional English country fair, a circus with an elephant called Bluebelle and some very dodgy characters!

Murder at the Summer Fair

Book 13 in the Miss Underhay series, which will probably be called Murder at the Summer Fair is now done and with my agent and my editor. Hopefully I'll gt the confirmed title and possibly the cover soon to share with you all. For now though I intend to collapse in a heap for a while then on Friday I set off for York. It's the Crime Writers association conference and I'm looking forward to getting to know some other crime writers!

Book 13

Murder at the Bazaar is now most likely to be called Murder at the village Fair or Murder at the Summer Fair. I have about 12k left to write to finish the first draft so I'm on target to finish it next week. Then I shall ignore it for 2 weeks before polishing, rewriting and adding another 10k before sending it to my agent and my editor. The outline for book 14 has also been accepted and that book will be a very wintery tale set in Scotland. The newly weds are certainly doing a little more travelling these days!

Book 13 update

Well, I'm now up to 20k on Book 13 in the Miss Underhay series. Although technically of course, she is now Mrs Bryant. Marriage is throwing up new challenges for Kitty and Matt as you'll see when you read Murder at the Beauty Pageant, book 12, in the series. I can't believe we're on book 13 already. It's been 4 years since I first signed the contract for Murder at the Dolphin Hotel which came out in the Autumn of that year. Book 13 is provisionally titled Murder at the Bazaar but I expect that will change. This one is back in Yorkshire but Matt and Kitty are not staying with Matt's parents or Lucy and Rupert. Instead they are in the quaint old village of Quixshotte at the Dower house belonging to Matt's aunt Euphemia. After attending the local bazaar - an oriental themed country fair, they stumble across the body of Miss Crowther. AKA Madame ZaZa knows all. Except this time she failed to predict her own demise. A bit of a catch up!

I honestly don't know where the time gets to. It seems to simply fly past. I realised I sould give you all a bit of a catch up. Murder at the Pageant (Jubilee) aka book 12 is continuing a pace. Just as well since Murder at the Charity Ball releases in the New Year and has just arrived on Net Galley. Over on my author page on facebook my lovely readers made lots of brilliant suggestions for the name of Kitty and Matt's new pet. With Harriet Notley suggesting the winner. Rascal the kitten will be making a first appearance very soon! For my UK readers, Murder at Enderley Hall is just 99p this month. I'm thrilled to say that December 11th marks the 3 year anniversary since Kitty and Matt first came to life in Murder at the Dolphin Hotel. My editor tells me that in this time over 300,000 copies of the Miss Underhay series has been sold! Wow!!! Just Wow!!! Book 11 is now completed and with my agent and my editor. No fixed title as yet. The working title was murder at the Charity Ball but that may change. Time for an admin break to catch my breath and research for book 12. Murder at the Pageant - again a working title.

Lynn Forth went to live in Accrington when she was 11 and still has the accent to prove it. Summer catch up!

It's been quite busy the last few weeks. I went to the Romantic Novelist Association's conference which was at Harper Adams college near Telford this year. It was very hot and we shared the campus with eight teams of christian footballers who were there on a training camp. I think they were quite bemused by so many, mainly female, novelists of a certain age suddenly appearing on the site. It was lovely to catch up with old friends and to make new ones. I've also had lunch with my editor and agent with lots of lovely positive news about the Miss Underhay series. I can't wait to be able to share some of that when we have bashed out the details. I left some signed copies of Murder at the Country Club at Oldway Mansion in Paignton which were sold to raise funds for the house and gardens. I'm reliably sold that these have now sold out so I shall have to see if they wish to have some more. Book 11, currently called Murder at the Charity Ball is well underway and see the return of Kitty's father. So, on Monday I had the honour of joining my agent and her staff along with three other fab authors, Alex Shaw, Bella Osbourne and Faith Martin. Kate, my agent had been shortlisted for agent of the year. A huge achievement and very well deserved. We met lots of famous people and ate lovely food. It was very exciting. I also had the great honour of meeting Robert Rinder, someone I admire hugely for his compassion and kindness. I can't even begin to tell you how amazed I was when he told me he knew my name and had read one of my books and he was a fan! Kitty has a celebrity fan. Wow, just wow!!!

A Christmas Catch Up

Dropping by to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe New Year. Thank you for all your lovely support for my books and those of my fabulous guest bloggers this year. It is so appreciated. Proofs have just been sent off for Murder in First Class which will release mid February. I have about 20k left to write on book 9 and hopefully, now my house move is completed I should be more productive next year. I may even have my new office space done soon.
